As a parent, we want to get our kids excited about learning something new. Here at Maple Lawn Montessori of Chantilly, we do this by disguising- the learning activities as a fun time.
When your kids are enrolled in our day care in Chantilly, Virginia, we organize engaging and exciting activities for them. Since school isn’t the only place for children to learn, we’ve created a list of activities you can try at home.
- Get out and explore.
Children learn best by actively engaging with their environment. You can take a 20-minute walk with your kids and teach them about nature. Let them experience the sights, sounds, and scents of the outdoors. Hiking and following trails are also recommendable but do it with caution.
- Try simple science experiments.
Teach your kids about science at home by conducting simple science experiments. This activity is jam-packed with learning opportunities, such as Mentos and diet soda fountain, invisible ink, slime experiments, baking soda volcano, lava lamp, storm in a glass, homemade playdough, and more.
- Share new learning.
If you read an intriguing article or saw a fascinating education program, tell your kids about it. By sharing these things, you’ll be sending the message that learning never stops. As child care in Virginia, we observe that kids love it when you make them feel that they are involved. Hence, practice sharing stories and new learning.
