Morning Routines for Kids to Uplift Their Mood for School

Do you find yourself struggling to get your kids out of bed in the morning for a couple of months now? If yes, consider improving their morning routines. Doing this will help them maintain a positive mood as they go to their Montessori School in Chantilly, Virginia.

  • Create a to-do list and use the “when-then” approach.Having a morning routine chart that includes their personal hygiene routines will serve as their guide. Then, use the “when-then approach” to take your kids’ mindset away from the task and on the reward. For example, “when you’ve finished dressing up, then we’ll have breakfast” or “when you’ve eaten yourself breakfast, then we’ll go to school and grab your fave snacks along the way.”
  • Serve a yummy and healthy breakfast.Yes, it requires time to prepare a yummy meal. To make your task easier, prepare a weekly menu. Prepare the breakfast the night before. Or better yet, you could also hire a meal preparation assistant to handle this task. Remember, making sure kids are well-fed helps their performance at the preschool in Chantilly.
  • Reconnect with them and be calm.Even before making them do all their morning tasks, be sure to spend a couple of minutes reconnecting with them. Ask them about their sleep. You could also use the first 10 minutes after waking as your meditation time.

Mornings don’t need to be frantic. By doing the tips above, you and your kids will enjoy a harmonious and productive morning. At Maple Lawn Montessori of Chantilly, it’s been the goal of educators to collaborate with parents in helping kids become well-rounded and disciplined adults. As a provider of child care in Virginia, the Montessori offers enrichment programs to help kids develop positive habits.
